HANDS-ON CADAVER COURSE

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is a great honour and pleasure for me to announce the INI 2010  congress celebrating the
10th anniversary of the International Neuroscience Institute Hannover.

INI was opened July 2000 being an external project of  world exposition EXPO 2000  Hannover. As such, from the beginning,  the INI was a centre of excellence for diagnostics and treatment of neurological diseases offering world leading medical technology in the hands of internationally renowned physicians and neurosurgeons. The architecture of the round shaped glass and steel building symbolizes the anatomy of the human brain  thus picturing its dedication.

Today the INI is equipped with edging technology, an intraoperative 1.5 Tesla MRI, leading neuronavigation devices, high field diagnostic MRIs and modern digital angiographic units for interventional radiology. Patients are accommodated  in comfort rooms, even large suites for the needs of VIP patients are available. Until today  more than 25.000 patients were diagnosed or treated at the INI. Patients are coming from all over the world, actually from every continent. The INI has become a worldwide acknowledged clinical centre for treatment of patients, who need outstanding surgical treatment for most difficult cases.

Preclinical and clinical research plays an important role also for the treatment of patients,  because in our understanding this is the way to catch up permanently with the newest developments in medicine. INI research focuses on the development of modern neurosurgical techniques, the improvement of neuroimaging as well as cellular and molecular neurosurgery. Numerous publications, lectures at significant conferences worldwide and even clinical trials testimonialise the scientific activities of the INI. Research  at the INI is significantly supported by the International Neurobionics Foundation Hannover, which is particularly dedicated to advance translational research aiming  the restoration of damaged nervous system functions.

At the INI 2010 congress invited speakers from all over the world will give  lectures. As keys to improve diagnosis and treatment of patients, the impact  of

  1. modern technology,
  2. interdisciplinary disease management and
  3. collaboration with the medical industry

will be issued.

Additionally, there will be space for free contributions. Therefore, we ask you to submit abstracts, either for oral or poster presentation. We would specially encourage free papers from the field of modern neurosurgical techniques, restorative neurosurgery and neuroimaging.

With great pleasure I cordially invite to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the INI together with us. I am looking forward to welcoming you at the INI congress 2010 in Hanover.
